After having a look through all my completed concepts, i think one thing has become clear;

It is the utilisation of colour that really makes certain images work. With some of the works i have done above, some of the lighting does not seem right in certain ones, but the colour profiling does, whereas those with minimal colour does seem to work because the lighting seems to be correct, but the lack of colour makes them very intense as stand alone images, but i do think they need something a little more to make them work for this project.

Of all the works i have done so far, i think the Distant Castle/Planet image is the one that has the most potential. It has the best light work by far in my opinion, and i think it has the best chance of working in print, both in terms of scale and focal points.

Working from the brief, i do feel that this is the one that may represent my future self the best. As they are asking for either a promotional image or an image depicting where you want to be in 10 years, i believe this has many interesting points that can be attributed to the fact.

With this in mind and a final image chosen to work on, i think it's time to get the work printed up and see how it looks now. Especially with the time i have left to get it all sorted, i feel a test print will best show the way it will come out now. The thing i am most interested in is the scale. As i have beem working at 3000x5000 pixels with a pixel density of 300, looking at the image in it's final form is rather hard on screen. Zooming up to 100% helps, but at the same time it's still difficult to see exactly what it will look like once it's printed.  But i feel as though now i have chosen it will be the best time to see how it has come out.

So my check list for now is;

  • Print
  • Review
  • Refine piece
  • Add colour
  • Crit
  • Refine
  • Reprint

From then on anything added in crit should be implimented.
