After tilting my focus back more towards greyscale themes, i thought i would create something using a vanishing point perspective and then build upon the horizon line with things like low saturation mountains to give the illusion of depth and distance whilst also giving me a viable playing field to work on. I wanted a central distant focal point in the piece with something quite close on the left, and something in mid focus on the right. Giving more on an idea of depth whilst playing with the idea that this could be a little more sci fi than the previous images i have created that have been heavily rooted in fantasy.

The grid i chose to work upon looked like this;

It is this that allowed everything to work a lot more simply in the process of laying down an initial concept. Working again in greyscale it allowed me to add the depth i had been looking at adding, and also not having to worry about the colour profiling i had faced issue with previously.

Laying down the idea was perhaps the easiest part of this image, contrasting to the experiences i had had with previous concepts. With the guides in the background allowing for a set end point, and the horizon line set it allowed me to work with a very rigid, but rather flexible set of restrictions allowing for proper depth and illusion of distance to be cerated.

After being rather set on the concept above, i thought it needed something a little more futuristic in the image, prompting me to work something into the castle in the distance that brought it a little more into focus, whilst maintaining it's distance in the image, but also status as the main point of the image. I decided to add some kind of illusion to an energy shield surrounding the castle. This didn't only add to the idea that this castle is the main focus of the image, but also the power and authority it's radiating is actually something to be reckoned with.

It was after this that it was noted to me that it looks a little bit like the moon. On second glance i realised that perhaps this could play more into the sci fi element i wanted with the piece. Not necessarily wanting to move or manipulate the energy shield i had created, just perhaps change it slighly when finalising the concept, i decided i would try to add some kind of planetary body in the distance, adding something a little more interesting to the skyline.

With the planet added to the skyline i really felt it added something huge to the image. Perspective, and scale to the universe it could exist in were my main thoughts on the addition of the planet. Therefore i think it may have been one of the better observations made of this piece. I decided to refine the city on the bottom left a little more, making it a lot more prominent a focus than before, and extending the pathway to it, allowing it to still sit planted on the left, but use the pathway to draw the eye into it a little more.

This concept is still not finished, but i do feel this is the strongest one i have made so far.
