One of the most prominent features of my wireframing was the fact that i wanted to include some kind of tab featured news item that would scroll through the items one at a time at certain intervals. With the parallax theme it has something that is rather similar to what i wanted but doesn't seem to have the movement with it. The module is called "tab". This lets the user create a set of featured items that can be easily changed die to the selector on the side of the section. I've manipulated the gallery i originally used and put a few images from there into it. The problem i have encountered is that the tabs appear higher than the actual feature does with no obvious way to move the tab to be inline. I have tried a few different ways such as this one featured below;
This tabbed feature looks rather odd with the tabs contained just above the image. Although the tabs themselves seem to fit with the background on which they are presented, the module itself just doesn't seem to work due to the fact that it all looks rather out of place. Not knowing what to look for in terms of plugins, or indeed how to use plugins with this theme as it is, i'd rater find a way to make this module work with my wireframing and site over.
It occurred to me that the module itself contained it's own background colour shown above as white. If this was perhaps transparent it wouldn't look so out of place. Shown below is the same module with a transparent background allowing for the tabs to look separate from the image, but close enough for a user to know that they are indeed part of the same thing.
This frustration has remained very abundant throughout the use of both wordpress and the use of this theme, seen again in the highlight module. In my wireframing i have included event tiles that will have click through links to either the event page, relevant artist or other workshop the artist is involved in.
Upon having brief experimentation with this module it appears that no matter in what configuration it uploaded or approached it maintains the need for a icon image. The module itself has all the potential to be what i'm looking for, but in execution it remains very difficult to utilise fully.
Pictured below is the highlights module containing the icon, but for an unknown reason showing nothing. The only time this seems to change is their is a post image present, wherein it replaces both the post image and the icon with the uploaded image.
Aside from these trivial things that are worsening over the course of creation, there is one module that has been working as intended. The feature post which i would hopefully use for news has been working perfectly within my site, displaying both image and text simultaneously in the way i have depicted in my wire framing. If all else fails i think i will have to use this module for the majority of my news items.
