With the platform i will be working on to create the site, i thought it would be a good idea to look into many of the benefits wordpress has to other creators. I had a look around online to find a few very thorough pages that concisely explain the benefits of wordpress, specifically looking at the things i will have to use in this project, such as plugin's, responsive design, and SEO.
Many of the benefits put forward about wordpress is the support that comes with it, which i guess for me right now isn't too important, but if this were to become something that i would do in the future, or just generally for the future of anyones site on wordpress would be very helpfull and increase the lifespan of a site and the ability to edit easily.
Most of what i know about wordpress has come from sites such as this one; http://madlemmings.com/2014/06/30/reasons-why-use-wordpress/ in which they explain many of the benefits to wordpress as both a blogging platform and a site creator over other sites.
With the first heading on the site mentioned above being "So easy even your Grandma could use it" it fills me with a little more confidence than i previously had, this being said i think it's really important knowing all the benefits of wordpress.
The main features that belong to positive reviews of wordpress are as i've already stated; plugins, site flexibility and SEO.
The plugin's for the site itself are said to be very easy to use and manipulate, whilst having very large support both for free and paid ones. Having a large amount of plugins to choose from in my own site will allow me to diversify in the types of content i want on my site, and the different ways i wish to present it. Long term wordpress use would most likely require paid plug ins with full support, but from what ive found so far many of the free ones will do pretty much everything that any day to day web user would need.
The flexibility of the site apparently comes from it's many themes and the ease to which they can be changed and used for various different things, and with combining this with a plethora of different plugins every theme can be used differently to achieve many different things. The dashboard itself lends well to ease of use and really enables the user to change things quickly and efficiently for the most effective and usable outcome. As quoted "easy enough that your Grandma could use it" is in itself reassuring to a user, or someone that has never even approached web or blog designing before.
The SEO wordpress uses, or the plugins available to be used alongside wordpress takes a lot of the guess work out of optimisation and allows the user to get their site on a very wide spread platform without having to really know everything that goes along will fully optimising a site, This ties in with plugins very well, but the fact that the SEO is integrated and broken down to just simple keyword searches enables most users to just click, type, ad optimise their site.
This overall makes me feel a whole lot more comfortable about using wordpress to complete this project. With the faith larger creators place in it, and the amount of people actively using wordpress on a daily basis means that there is both a lot of support for me to refine for my own use, and enough sites for me to take inspiration from in the process.
We could easily install the plugins of all in one seo for updating the meta tag and on page segment in the wordpress websites.
