My idea was to flip the astronaut to give another look the the image, establishing something slightly different than just an image taken from the animation. This, coupled with the moon Jess had already made, and the background i had used previously, putting it all together with a small drop shadow worked quite well as a base.
The composition worked, but i thought input from everyone else would be helpful. The general opinion was that the stars should be smaller, and there should be a few more. Also, the text colour did not match the one used in the animation.
Jess had begun working on her poster idea, using one of the backgrounds she decided against when making the assets for the animation. Although the composition seemed a perfect fit, the background did not. We all felt black would suit the poster better.
After Jess had made the changes, and decided to remove the lid from the jar; the composition itself seemed finalised. With a tagline introduced on Jess' piece, the only thing that really needed to be reworked was the title colouring to match that established in Dan's work.
With a matched style and a few tweaks, Jess and i had made posters that both compliment the animation as well as each others designs.
My poster remained much the way it was apart from the few small details we all discussed. As long as the brand identity was clear and the final outcome solidified, i think we did justice to out collaborative creation.
The final animation Dan created was well presented and smoothly executed. With Dan choosing the music by himself, i feel it fit the work perfectly and couldn't have picked better myself.
In hindsight, perhaps the idea was a bit childish and unclear for a BA Graduation show, but the process helped us all grow as designers. In the future, i think a clearer look at the target audience is a necessity, and those we are trying to present. Working outside our strengths would have pushed all to create something unique and interesting rather than sticking with an already established style. But overall, i enjoyed the process and i'm proud of our creation.
