Looking back at my previous images really gave me new flare for the concepts i was looking to create. Perhaps not directly, but i think the way i used to approach concepts is something i should be revisiting. Applying colour liberally and sketching out my ideas first in order to create something that maybe has more depth and seems a little more refined than those of my typical greyscale images i have been working on of late.
With this in mind i took to sketching out an image based loosely on the most recent Hobbit film; The Battle of The Five Armies. Some of the shots of the city of Dale in that film really made me want to create something in a similar vane, again with the character overlooking whatever the focal point would be, and in this image it would be some kind of water based city.

The colourisation was the hardest thing to work with in this one as it's been a very long time since i've actually worked in colour and for some reason my approach to it wasn't making any sense. That said, i approached it the best i could and now i'll leave it to progress on to something else that i know i can finish. Although i put a fair mount if work into the initial concept of the piece, i don't know how well it would work on a larger scale or indeed how well it would work as a 3D environment. Nonetheless, i'm still happy with how it is progressing thusfar, and i assume i will finesse it further before i have to choose my final image to put into Cinema 4D.
