D&AD Proposal

I have spent the last few days securing a proposal. Based primarily on the software i want to use to create my final pieces, and the fluidity of the brief. In my analysis of the brief's wording, i highlighted a few key words that have allowed me to incorporate my own terms into the project.

I have prepared a PDF for submission with the project to explain my concept, but for here i will include the text portion and a few key images i have created previously. My project proposal is as follows;

I have chosen to go for the WeTransfer brief, as i think from all the briefs put forward this year, this is the one that will enable me to create a body of work i can be happy with and allow me to tailor the work
i produce more to my own specification using their brief as a loose guide, whereas the others are slightly too restricting for me to view then as “freely creative”.
the concept originating from one of these images, a 1 minute video panning through a fully realise 3D environment, and one 3D character. Then, from these i shall choose what to submit for the award itself.

The main features from the brief i feel are important are “create a print and online illustration” therefore specifying 2 separate things but not specifying they be visually different, the allowance to create it in any medium, and mainly the freedom that comes with the brief.
This said, the brief is not clear. The brief asks for you to “celebrate you” or “the person you wish to be” whilst also giving suggestions that it could be surrounded by self promotion.
With these points picked out, i think my aim will be to continue working in the same vane as some of the environmental concepts i have been finessing over the summer and term time this year.

But, as the brief states that it should include me, have a character that could possibly me in every concept i create.
I think the beauty of giving a faceless character surrounded by a vast landscape concept is that it can be interpreted in many ways; perhaps in that the portrait is that of the landscape itself, giving illusion to the fact that i wish this is how the world could be, or perhaps indeed think that is the way it will become in 10 years.
I would also love to include a 3D element to this project, so, allowing myself the time to complete this, i would love to split the project in half, one half to photoshop concepts of environments etc, and the second half to realise one of them in full 3D, allowing me to create a short video alongside my images panning through this new 3D environment, having the character created in 3D also and enabling that character to also be its own stand alone image.
So, the brief requires one print image, one (up to 4) screen image and/ or a 1 minute video.
My intention is to create as many photoshop environments as possible in half the allocated time frame, create one 3D environment with.

As stated in the proposal, it is using my skill set and my experience, along with my desired progression route in order to create a viable project. I have included all the things seemingly necessary in the brief, whilst expanding on the execution, and overall submission.
