Event Decisions

After looking around at the portfolio sites of artists I actively enjoy and some of the event pages of events that make me think about the redesign or remodel of those sites already in existence, it occurred to me that in order to couple these things together, the best thing for me to do would be to approach the idea of designing my own event, showcasing some of the work from concept artists and designers I love, therefore sticking to the field I want to go in myself, whilst planning an event designed using many things brought in from the various designers I wish to showcase.

Of course this will increase the workload, and I will have to approach the creation of the site in an entirely different way, such as acquiring and relaying information on the page, but I feel designing my own site will allow me to properly focus and refine my content in order to have a well put together and relevant event site.

In the case of planning my own event, there a great deal more things I have to consider than I would have previously;

As I've already mentioned, that acquisition and refining of content is now a consideration, although this would have indeed needed to be done before there is now a need to filter through artists portfolio pages and decide which information and work should be included in the event site itself.

Consideration should be given to a hierarchical structure amongst speakers if I am to include a plan for certain evenings events, or indeed how artists will be showcased on the site.

With these things coupled with the briefs requirement of a set amount of things to include in the site, the workload increases. That said, drawing inspiration from events already in existence and the sites that are coupled with them will be one of the mst important parts of planning the look and feel of my site.

Also choosing the artists is of course going to be a key component in both the design and execution of the site, but with a few of my favourite artists mentioned already, and the inclusion of these artists secondary to the research of, and designing of the site itself, I feel the most important thing at the moment is to research existing sites, then working through similarities and differences, then to work out how to do this myself in word press.
